Visitors: Brazilian Delegates

We had some Brazilian delegates visit our school today. These delegates are on an official world tour and were invited to the UAE on the invitation of the Abu Dhabi government.

They wanted to see how hand held learning technology is being used in Education and how they could implement this technology in schools in Brazil.

Because of the pioneering work we have conducted at GCS in integrating IT into the curriculum and using hand held devices such as iPads,  Apple representatives recommended that they visit GCS.

The delegates were given a presentation by myself, and were led around the PYP block to see iPad learning in action. The visitors had an opportunity to speak to PYP teachers, Ms Javaid and Ms Zsargo and some grade 2 students to ask questions regarding the use of iPads in class.

Armed with school iPads they were also able to view the wonderful auras that have been placed on the wall mounts, posters and objects around the school using Aurasma.

The delegates were extremely impressed with the innovative tools and applications we are using as well as the confidence our students displayed in welcoming the visitors and sharing their excitement about the different forms of technology they use. We were also commended on the policies we had in place that ensure the security and safety of our students and the devices.

Today rubber stamped the great work we do at GCS, not only by the delegates but from Apple. Today also signified how far GCS has come in three years and that we are setting ourselves as examples for other schools to follow not only in the UAE, but around the world.

I believe this to be a great achievement and one that should be shared with all the teachers and therefore I would like to thank the teachers for their continuous support, eagerness to learn and be risk takers, for without them we could not have moved into the world of 21st century learning and bring our students with us.
